The
Augusta constitutionalist says: “We are pleased
to learn that the Irish volunteers of this city have been chosen as the banner
company, or color guard, of the Fifth Georgia regiment of volunteers, now
stationed at Pensacola. The colors are those presented to the company
in this city just previous to their departure, and are in hands worthy to carry
them on to the field of battle.”
