            RESIGNATIONS—Commander Edward L. Handy, while under orders to the sloop-of-war Marion, and sailingmaster Geo. S. Shyrock, now on board the sloop Saranac at sea, have sent their resignations to the U. S. Navy Department.  The Washington Star says they will doubtless be refused, and their names will be stricken from the roll of the service.
