A Saucy Man.

Dr. Warren Stone, of New Orleans, has been unconditionally released from Fort Jackson by Butler.  It is said that when he was before Butler, he asked the tyrant why he was arrested.  Butler replied: “Because you are a Rebel.”  Dr. Stone rejoined: “Oh, is that all?  I was fearful some low fellow had been slandering me!  It is quite true, I am a Rebel!”

While a prisoner at the Fort it was suggested to Mrs. Stone that if the Doctor would make some apology or concession, he would be released.  The patriotic lady replied that she was certain her husband would never concede an inch, and that it was no use to ask him.  So says a correspondent of the Jackson Mississippian.
