A
NEW ORLEANS ITEM—Lieut. D’Apreumont, a Southern
officer from New Orleans, having been taken prisoner by the Yankees, was being
conveyed through the streets of that city to the Parish Prison. He was marching along bare footed, under
guard, when two of his civilian friends procured a pair of shoes and handed
them to him. For this mercy they were
arrested, and the Beast sent one of them to the Parish Prison for three months,
and the other for six months. “Go on,
Butler, go on.” Your time will come.
