The
battery of field-pieces, taken from the arsenal at Fayetteville, arrived here on Sunday under
charge of Lieut. Rose, who leaves with them to-day for Raleigh.
We understand that the United
States officers lately in command at Fayetteville, as well as
the artillerymen under them, agree in the opinion that this is one of the best,
if not the best, battery in the country.
The guns and all the equipment are in perfect order. We did not learn the purpose for which they
were transported to Raleigh,
but we suppose they will be used at the camp of instruction established there.
