Mr.
Editor: Allow me to return the thanks of myself and Company to the young Ladies
of Greensborough Female College for the liberal and unsolicited contribution
made by them to us, through the worthy President of the College, Rev. T. M.
Jones, viz—the proceeds of a Concert given by them for the benefit of soldiers,
amounting to sixty-four dollars.
I
will say to them that a portion of it has been appropriated for some nice fresh
pork, and if they could have seen the men when eating it, after having been fed
on salt beef, fat middling bacon and salt fish, they would have enjoyed the
scene very much.
