Prof.
Sterling:--Dear Sir. I acknowledge with pride and gratification, the receipt of
most valuable and necessary articles for the use of the wounded soldiers of
North Carolina, presented through you by the patriotic and humane ladies of
Greensboro. I also acknowledge the
receipt of $50 from the same source.
In
return I can only promise that this munificent gift shall be faithfully applied
to the purpose for which it is designed, and the heartfelt gratitude of the
unfortunate recipients of your bounty.
Since
the recent engagements in the vicinity of Richmond, this Hospital has received
300 wounded and sick soldiers of our State; they continue to arrive daily, and
will need the continued assistance of our citizens. With high respect, your obedient servant,
O. F. MANSON,
Surgeon in charge.
