Guilford
Relief Commissioners.
At
may term of Guilford County Court, it was ordered that the following persons be
appointed, in their respective districts, to furnish necessary provisions to
the wives and children of soldiers in service, under the county appropriation
for that purpose,--and that each of said commissioners be allowed to appoint
one of more discreet citizens in his district to assist him in his duties:
1. Abner Apple, 10. Anslem Reid,
2. Eli Smith, 11. Emsly
Armfield,
3. William Coble, 12. William L. Kirkman,
4. William Green, 13. Joseph Hoskins,
5. John McLean, 14. Thomas E. Cook,
6. William M. Mebane, 15. Wm. Woodburn and W. M. Wiley,
7. J. W. Parker, 16. Jesse Benbow,
8. David Wharton, 17. Newel R. Sapp,
9. J. B. Gamble, 18. Nathan Hunt.
These commissioners are all
gentlemen of public spirit, and patriotic and humane.
