Tribute of Respect
At a meeting of Logan Lodge, No. 121, held in their lodge room August 15, A. D. 1862, the following preamble and resolutions were passed:
WHEREAS, it has pleased an Allwise and merciful Creator, in the plenitude of his beneficent dispensation to remove from our mystic circle in the midst of his usefulness, our friend and worthy Brother, Hamilton Armfield, one of the founders of this Lodge, a zealous Mason, and honest, peaceable, and humane gentleman,
Resolved, That while we submissively bow to the will of the Great I Am, we cannot but deeply deplore the loss of one whose many virtues so eminently qualified him to adorn the station he was called upon to fill.
Resolved, That we tender our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, and would admonish them to mourn not as those without hope. But be ye also ready, for you know not the day, nor the hour wherein the son of man cometh.
Resolved, That in testimony of respect, and kind feelings we have for our deceased brother, it is ordered that this Lodge be clothed in mourning for thirty days, and the Secretary forward a copy of these resolutions to the family of the deceased.
