A VERY SAD
CASUALTY—On Friday afternoon last, Gaston, the eldest child of Col. Gaston
Meares of the Army, aged 9 years, fell from a boat in which he was playing with
other boys, into the river at the foot of Dock street, Wilmington, and was
drowned, not being seen until his body was recovered three hours
afterwards. He was a grandson of Dr. A.
J. DeRosser.
It is a very sad
calamity, exciting the deepest sympathy with the bereaved family of many here
as well as at Wilmington.
