Lieut. M. V. Lamb.

This officer had command of company I, Twenty-second Regiment, on the first day of the fighting at Richmond. Although he was wounded and disabled soon after he went into the engagement, we are pleased to learn that he was on the field long enough to display that daring coolness and intrepidity so characteristic of him and which so distinguished him at the battle of Seven Pines. He is wounded by a ball in the leg, and though somewhat painful, it is not dangerous.

The courage displayed by Lieut. Brown of Co. L, and Capt. Odell, of Co. M, is spoken of by all as being unequalled by any officer in the command.
