For the Patriot

Tribute of Respect

At a regular meeting of Leaksville Lodge of Masons, No. 136, the following preamble and resolutions were unanimously adopted:

WHEREAS, We have learned with the deepest regret of the death of our brother, Capt. Chalmers Glenn, who fell in the defence [sic] of the country, at the battle of Boonsborough, after having been engaged in that terrible battle during the whole of the day, on the 14th September,

Resolved, That it is with feelings of the deepest regret we have received the painful intelligence of the death of our brother; but while we deplore his loss, we humbly submit to the will of him who ruleth all things.

Resolved, That we sympathize most deeply with the family of the deceased and would gladly offer them all the consolation that human sympathy can afford, were it of any avail, in their severe loss.

Resolved, That the members of this Lodge, wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days.

Resolved, That these resolutions be entered on the records of the Lodge, and a copy of the same be sent to the family of the deceased, and also to the Patriot and Standard for publication.

                                                T. W. FIELD, W. M.

                                                JAMES W. BURTON, Secretary
