Piedmont Railway Company, Viz: William T. Sutherlin of Danville, George
Williams, R. Watt, John H. Dillard, C. Boyd, and William B. Carter of
Rockingham county; Philip Barrow, Jno. P. Poindexter and A. J. Stafford of
Forsyth county; William A. Lash, John J. Martin and James Riason of Stokes
county; Jesse H. Linnsay, Levi M. Scott, and Ralph Gorrell of Guilford county;
Bedford Brown, Thomas D. Johnson, Allen Green, and Montford McGee of Caswell
county; Giles Mebane, Jesse Gant, and Eli J. Watson of Alamance; John W.
Cunningham, Edwin G. Reed, and Thomas McGee of Person county; William Johnson
of the town of Charlotte; James C. Turrentine and William F. Strayhorn of
Orange county; Benjamin A. Kittrell of the town of Lexington; H. C. Jones, Sr.,
Salisbury; Jonathan Worth of the town of Asheboro and William P. Taylor of
Pittsboro.
You
are hereby requested to meet at the office of the Secretary of War in the city
of Richmond at eleven o’clock a.m. on Tuesday on the ____ day of April, 1862
for the purpose of conferring with the Secretary of War in regard to the
proposed construction of the Piedmont Railroad.
This
conference is essential to the immediate prosecution of the work. The Commissioners are therefore requested to
attend without fail.
