PALMETTO
RIFLEMEN--We are highly gratified that the appeal we made in our first issue in
behalf of the formation of this corps, was not altogether in vain, and that the
spirit necessary to its success has been reawakened with some of our young men,
who are determined to organize speedily, if possible, and have the Company in
full blast at an early day. Let others
emulate their example at once, and we shall have no delay in reaching the
desired object.
Those
who wish to participate in the organization of the Company should hasten to
enroll their names, as it is confidently expected that a sufficient number will
be obtained within a fortnight to call a meeting for that purpose. It will be recollected that the uniform is to
be of Southern manufacture entirely. All
other particulars can be obtained, as we have before stated, by calling at the
office of W. W. HUMPHREYS, Esq.
