Mr. Tyler Mouchet
Dies Near Lavonia—Aged Citizen and Respected Citizen
Another
Confederate Veteran has anchored on the other shore. Mr. Tyler Mouchet,
of near Lavonia, crossed over on Monday after an illness of about a week of
pneumonia. Mr. Mouchet
was 75 years of age, a member of the Baptist church, and an honored confederate
soldier. His term of service in the
Civil War extended over a period of four years.
At
the time of his death he lived with his son, Chas. Mouchet,
of near Viola. He leaves eight or ten
children to mourn his departure. Some of
his children live in Hart and Franklin counties in Georgia
and some live in South Carolina.
The
remains of this aged veteran were laid to rest at Good Hope Church in South Carolina, near
Starr Station, on Tuesday afternoon at 5
o’clock. This was where Mr. Mouchet held his membership before coming to Georgia
and near the place where he lived for many years of his life.
Mr.
Mouchet holds a very tender remembrance in the hearts
of his friends. They speak complimentary
of his life. At the advanced age of 75
he was active till the last. He was
engaged in some employment all the time till about a week previous to his
death. According to the laws of nature,
he lived his allotted years.
