Messrs. Editors—Allow me to acknowledge the receipt of $450 in
Confederate bills, and $15 in silver, from the captain, officers, engineers,
firemen, seamen and others of the steamer “Julia.”

Another excellent
example, gratifying and encouraging for the indefatigable efforts of the
seamen’s good friend, in relieving the necessities of seamen’s families whose
supports are in prison or lest in a watery grave. We are glad to announce that Mr. YATES, who
has been suffering from a severe spell of sickness, is last regaining his naval
good health.
