PRINCE CAMILLE DE
POLIGNAC—The Richmond (Va.) Enquirer of the 29th ult., in announcing
the arrival of Prince Polignac in that city, from France, says:
He
comes, as Lafayette came, to draw his sword in behalf of a brave and generous
people who have taken up arms to resist the attempts of a tyrant and a despot
to subjugate and enslave them.
Prince
Polignac served with much gallantry in the Crimea, and is unquestionably well
acquainted with the organization and discipline of the French army.
We
understand that President Davis received the Prince yesterday at his office in
the War Department with that urbanity and cordiality for which he is so justly
distinguished.
