THE CONFEDERATE
POSTAL STAMPS—The Montgomery Advertiser says the design for the Confederate
Stamps has been selected and a contract partially made for a supply. The new stamp is very beautiful, and quite in
contrast with the old. The size is a
trifle larger, and in the centre is an elegant steel engraving of Washington, a front view
taken from his well known portrait painted by Stuart. It will meet universal approbation, and will
probably meet the public eye early in June, or as soon thereafter as
practicable.
