Outrageous Cruelty
Gen.
Tilghman delivered a speech in Jackson,
Miss., reciting the particulars
of his treatment while a prisoner in the hands of the Yankees. He said that Gen. Buckner and himself were
thrown into a dungeon thirty feet under ground and for four and a half months
were excluded the light of day, and not permitted to exchange a word with any
living soul. The day of reckoning for
such barbarism is at hand.
