DEATHS.
Died
– In Richmond on the 30th of June, from a wound received in the
recent battle before that city, Evan Hilton, of Davidson County, in the 29th
year of his age a member of Company K, 48th Regiment, N. C. T. The deceased leaves a wife and one child,
besides a large number of relatives and friends. He was much beloved and respected by all who
knew him. He possessed a sober, mild and
gentle disposition, and was patient, kind and cheerful – an affectionate
husband and kind neighbor. He has left
an aching heart at the family hearthstone, but yet one who mourns not without
hope of meeting him in a brighter and happier world, where the trials and strifes of this earthly tabernacle will never be known.
