From The Greensborough Patriot
July 24, 1862 – Pg. 1
We
learn with regret that Rev. B. F. Guthrie, of the N. C. Conference of the M. E.
Church, lately stationed at Chapel Hill, but more recently a Chaplain in one of
our new Regiments, recently died in camp at Brooke Church, near Richmond, of
disease contracted in the discharge of his duties. He was in fine health when he entered the
army a few weeks ago. He was a young man
of much promise, and was a useful and acceptable minister.—Standard.
