T. C. Land, of Wilkes county, has left the office of the Iredell Express a vial
of salt water, which flows from a tissue in a rock about 20 miles west of
Wilkesboro in a never-failing stream.�
Col. Land thinks the fountain is a tributary of the salt Springs in
Virginia.
����������� Rev.
J. R. Graves, of Orange county, is confined with others at the Rip Raps as a
political prisoner.

Frank Buchanan has been made Admiral in the Confederate Navy�the highest office
in the service�for his distinguished services in the great engagement with the
Merrimac in Hampton roads.
