JACKSON’S AVENGER—The Richmond correspondent of the Charleston Courier writes:

If every man could be as effective as the guerrilla Jackson, the brother of the Alexandria martyr, our borders would soon be rid of the mercenaries.  Nightly he sallies forth with horse and rifle, sometimes alone, and occasionally with a party of equally bold spirits, and seldom does he return without having left a leaden memento of his presence in the dead body of a New York Zouave.  A gentleman just from Manassas informs me that such is the terror he has inspired among the Federal pickets that they are acting like cowards, and are never seen alone.  Many other instances of individual heroism daily come to light, in which our men show themselves worthy of the reputation of the knight errant of old.
