Lieutenant
Tyler, a native of Virginia, who has been attached to the United States
sloop-of-war Saratoga, on the coast of Africa, but came to New York in charge
of the prize slaver Nightingale, was arrested in that city on Sunday, and
turned over to Commodore Breese at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, for calling the
President a baboon, Gen. Scott worse names, and for talking treason
generally. He was, it is said, trying to
purchase a lot of revolvers to take to Virginia. He is held subject to orders of the
authorities at Washington.
